No One Is Coming

In a yoga class I took almost 15 years ago, the instructor said at one point (probably while holding us in a plank or chair pose), "No one is coming. You have to save yourself."

What crap, right?

Just kidding. It's both the good and bad news.

Over the years, I have fallen prey to playing the victim and belieiving I needed someone to come take care of me and save me. And this insistence has driven a wedge in many relationships where I wanted someone to play a role that wasn't theirs to play.

This past week has brought with it a reminder that my inner child needs love and attention from ME. As soon as I recognized the need, I was able to show up as the adult and be with my little girl who was feeling hurt, confused, and alone.

I took her to see the movie, "Inside Out 2" and the next day got some arts and crafts for her to play with.

While we have our angels, spirit guides, and others in the spirit realm watching over us and giving us guidance, I believe it is still up to us to take care of ourselves. They can and do offer suggestions for our highest good, but it is still on us to take action and nurture ourselves.

The good news?

It feels really empowering when we finally do. Do you take time to be with your inner child?

Maybe today you take time in meditation to connect with your inner child. Ask them how old they are and trust what comes through. Ask what they need from you. Ask if they have anything to tell you. Listen to what they have to say. They often hold the key to your healing.
